Reading Bar Charts

Follow the top of a bar across to the scale.

Read the top of a bar against the scale and you have its count

This chart counts votes for each color. The numbers up the side are the scale.

Follow the top of the blue bar across to the scale. It lands on 6: six votes.

Blue reaches 6 and green reaches 4: blue is 2 ahead, and together they make 10.

A scale can climb in twos: blue tops the fifth line, and five twos are 10.
